Bobby Thompson

Joining in time for the third round of the 2024 season, Bobby Thompson brings Zeus Cloud Racing with WSR into the British Touring Car Championship.

The Hornchurch driver is an undoubted fan favourite and is racing the purple BMW 330e M Sport – already dubbed ‘Barney’ in deference to the kids’ TV favourite – for the remainder of the year.

Following a part-season in UK Formula Ford in 2014 that netted Graduate Cup victories in every race he contested, he switched to single-make saloon racing.

He won races almost immediately and by 2017 had clinched the VW Racing Cup; a key achievement in his graduation to the BTCC the following season.

Injuries sustained in a heavy accident ended his 2020 season early and caused him to miss the following season. He bounced back in 2022 to score his first BTCC podium and win the Jack Sears Trophy.

Two further podiums – including a career-best second place at Brands Hatch – showed real progress in 2023 and he now aims to push on and claim a breakthrough victory this year.
